BEING a senior was the BEST part about being a senior.
I would go back and tell my freshman self to just relax and get my priorities in order real quick or it will bite me in the ass later on. I would also tell my freshman self that relationships are not the way to go in high school.
The Occupy movement will definitely have an impact on me and the rest of my education.

My internship this year with Valerie Troutt, a local jazz vocalist, really taught me a lot this year. I learned a lot bout the music industry from her. Although I don’t plan on pursuing music, I now no enough to start a career in it if I wanted to. I also have a great resource for any questions that may come up and a friend to rely on.
Honestly, I am just proud that I got through the year without threatening my life or just plain giving up on everything.

Junior Year

The hardest thing about being a junior was juggling homework and college apps and everything that came along with that. I had a very hard time remembering deadlines and I seemed to be doing everything last minuet.
The biggest surprise of my junior year was my report card at the end of the year and my 3.5 GPA that came along with that.
Chemistry was really big my junior year, everything I learned that year in chemistry was the absolute coolest thing EVER! more specifically, I remember mixing chemicals to make different smells. The putrid smell was the worst.
Again I am so proud of my hard work in junior year and the way it paid off. I got in to all of the colleges I had interest in, more importantly I got into my first choice college, Xavier University that I will be attending spring semester.

Sophomore Year

I didn’t return to a school sophomore year, I was home schooled so that was different. It was weird not being around other kids my age and no teachers around. I basically did what I wanted and got my work done whenever. I hung out with my older brother most of the time, it was different but not horrible.
The inauguration of Obama was a major news story my sophomore year.
I remember learning a lot about clouds sophomore year and the science of Earth in general,it was pretty awesome.
I was very proud of my 3.5 GPA all of my sophomore year.

Freshman Year

I remember the riots happening after the shooting of Oscar Grant.
I remember learning the basics of how to read music and how to control my breathing when singing. It was in my core music class, I remember learning this because it has really helped me with my interactions with music today. I also remember because my favorite music teacher of all time was teaching the class, her name is Mrs. Mckenzie.
If I could redo something from freshman year it would be to focus more on my academics instead of my music and love life.

I absolutely agree with Obama and his opinion on student loans. It makes no sense to make students pay more money for their education just to contribute to the country’s debt. And taxing the rich is out of the question.
I think that this forum was a great way to get the information out there, it appeals more to younger generations and people who don’t really pay attention to these type of things.
My suggestion is that the rich should be taxed more. I also like the idea of college being paid for by job wages based on student degrees.

The Fed or the Federal Reserve is the central banking system of the US.
It was created due to financial crisis in the US, events such as the Great Depression.
In the Fed there is money.
The Fed’s job is to conduct the monetary policy and maintain stability of the financial system.
The Fed is crticised for not reducing unemployment.

I don’t think a family could live comfortably on this income because I live in a family of six and $4k per month is just not enough for us. We have to buy groceries, pay for lunch at school and public transportation back and forth every day, on top of there are school expenses to worry about such as field trips and tests, high school students are very expensive. A single person who is not in school and has a steady job, so to say, could live comfortably on this income.
- The east and west coast has all of the money!; the darker green represents more money and it seems that the east and west coast are fighting over who’s making the most money. The north and south have hardly any money, they are the ones struggling.

- Alot of the money is in the big cities and/or states; Chicago, New York, California, Nevada (Las Vegas) etc.

5. - 2009 was not as poor as one would think.

I feel that credit cards are a bad idea at any age in our current economy,we obviously don’t know what ‘money management’ means. I don’t have a credit card myself but my parents are trying hard to get me one,I’m afraid of credit cards because I have witnessed them struggle with their credit,avoiding bill collectors and being embarrassed when they don’t qualify for something because of their credit.

FACTS:

“725 pf the students who took the survey in 2009 were business majors -this fact stood out to me because it just sounds ridiculous,are these students learning anything besides how to spend their money?
“more than 90% of college students who hold credit cards are carrying monthly credit card debt” -stop giving these children credit cards!
“five of every six students don’t know their cards’ interest rates” -too bad so sad

WIDER IMPLICATIONS:

-“You could argue that college students ought to be more educated about these things,” — I disagree..

KEY FINDINGS:

-Only 13% of college students admitted to using their cards frequently,that is totally bullshit, I’m sure they mean to only use their credit cards for emergencies as their parents have directed them to but they can’t resist the “unlimited” money that the credit card represents for them.

They think they are saying “I pulled myself up by my bootstraps!”
What they are saying is very rude but understandable. I think they have the right intentions but wrong choice of words and tone.

They think they are saying ” If you punish success, society will collapse into communism”
We are not punishing anybody and the successful people are not the ones who make this country work,we all give our contributions.

They think they are saying “It’s wrong to tear down others instead of improving your own life”
In a way this is true,some people are jealous of other people’s success but i don’t that is intirely whats meant of this “thing”.

They think they are saying “This is the land of opportunity, where anyone can make it! Instead of complaining, just go out there and get rich.”
I think this “thing” is actually encouraging, I don’t think its meant to make anybody feel inferior.

Favorite quote: “I became a self-made millionaire by the age of 30 by working grueling hours being relentless and risking my own money. My success was earned with blod sweat and tears.”
They think they are saying “I’m not Paris Hilton! I work 70-hour weeks to make this salary.”
Most people work hard to get what they have, it may not be $500,000 a year but whatever it is they worked hard for it.

“The amount that I have to reinvest in my business and feed my family is more like $600,000 … and so by the time I feed my family, I have maybe $400,000 left over …”
They think they are saying “Come on, we’re a;; in this together! It’s not like I have infinite money.”

Panem is unusual because it is very advanced technologically but is challenged economically with inequalities and deprivation.
Economic theory says that prosperity happens by capital accumulation and “Solow residual”— the inexplicable growth of technology. A country that knows how to build a prosperous society makes this work.
They are rich in knowledge because they know what it takes to be prosperous.
A ‘reversal of fortune’ is a theory that says, if we turned back time hundreds , we would see that the rich were once poor and the poor were once rich. Fortunes would reverse.
The problems with an economy built on extraction industries are the lack of wages, the ‘unskilled’ workers aren’t earning enough money for their labor. Extraction industries ban the workers from working outside of the ‘District’, in search of more money. The extractive institutions want the people to be poor while they exploit their labor and independence.

This inevitable crisis with oil prices is getting a bit annoying, we all know that oil prices are not going down so why are we still complaining about it. Fullerton is right with our constant dependence on oil the Middle Easterners will always have some control over our whole economy because we can not survive or get from place to place without it. Oil in our country is crucial but we need to find another way to manage it besides fighting with the Iranians and pissing them off enough to the point when they want to cut us off all togther.

$40-$80 mil economic impact on communities that have a regional tournament.
Oaklahoma city spent $120 mil and the state spent $60 mil just to get a team.
companies pay $100k for a 30 second spot on CBS and $1 mil during the finals.
Over $7 bil is gambled during March Madness that’s more than the super bowl.
Last year the NCAA made $548 mil from TV and $40 mil from ticket sales.

The amount of money spent on these games is unbelievable, March Madness makes more money than the super bowl and I always thought that the super bowl was such a big deal to Americans.

To be “bearish” means to be vulnerable and weak. To be “bullish” means to be ambitious on the verge of desperate and strong.

Harry Dent says that another stock market crash is coming in 2013 or 2014. Gerald Celente says we should prepare for an “economic 9/11”, the Americann dollar will be worth less and more people will be out of work. Robert Prechter says that today’s economy has similarities to the Great Depression.

The more bullish types believe that the economy will do the opposite of what the “doomsayers” believe. They believe that the stocks will rise and “is in rebound mode”. Stock market strategists are raising their targets in strong faith that stocks will rise a high 10%. The bearish completely disagree saying that the “ballooning debt” and the split between financial classes will make the US vulnerable to failure. In my opinion I feel that the economy has a greater chance of drowning than surviving because we are so deep into this hole, I don’t see how we can pull everyone out. If we don’t pull everyone out there will be more chaos then there is now with our national financial crisis.

1) I guess this reminds me of Romney himself.

2) I don’t think the Romney’s are taken out of context but they are being a little mistreated. They are being criticized for answering a question honestly, would we rather them lie about their wealth? The fact is they are wealthy and we all know that.

Santorum:

1) Santorum’s thoughts on birth control are totally expected, he’s an old guy with old ideas about what women should be allowed and not allowed to do or have. Having such a strong negative opinion about this particular subject could make or break his campaign.

2) Neologism is a new word, meaning, usage, or phrase. Dan Savage is a journalist who writes sex advice columns. He is also a gay man and writes responses to “social conservatives” and Santorum’s views on homosexuality.

3) I think people should have some say in what comes up on Google when people search them. I also think that Santorum as a public figure should absolutely have some say in what people see when they “google” him. How can he even try do something better for the people who believe in him when they are forced in to a bias?

4) Everything is “Rick Santorum for President!”, republican primary results etc.

5) “the frothy mixture of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the byproduct of anal sex.” Dan Savage’s new definition for Santorum’s name.

Thesis: Obama is not at fault for the increase in oil and gas prices. I agree with his position because as he said in the article “when Obama took office, everything in the economy, including the price of oil, was in free fall.” Our economy was already on its way, if not already, in the ground. Obama is not completely at fault.

The price of gas right now is absolutely ridiculous, it is going up every day it seems and doesn’t seem to be decreasing anytime soon. It’s a little discouraging because I’ll be driving soon and I’m not looking forward to paying $5 for gas. This wouldn’t really influence me to invest in oil although oil is making a lot of money nowa days. I think the price of oil escapes the law of supply and demand because it is such a sensitive issue in our society today and puts our country at risk for many unfortunate situations.

I feel as though oil is both an ECONOMIC and POLITICAL issue. It is a political issue because there are many aspects of politics involved in dealing with oil. It is an economic issue because it definitely has a lot to do with the way our economy works and it is a crucial part of our economy.

I would eliminate the penny because it cost more to make but is worth less than a nickle. Pennies aren’t used very often anyways they just take up space in our change purses. Nickle are much more reliable,we need nickles. I think that we should less copper when making nickles and use more nickle. If we eliminated pennies, I don’t think the world would miss them at first but eventually we would.
